About

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to enrich, empower, and challenge the viewpoints of the public through innovative theatre practices, welcoming a more diverse theatre community and training the next generation of theatre-makers.

OUR HISTORY

Bridges Theatre Company was developed in conjunction with Point Park University's BFA Theatre Arts program. Bridges Theatre Company provides theatre-makers an opportunity to showcase their work, build professional relationships, and practice theatrical artistic and administrative management. A committee of students and faculty advisors met to put together a structure for the company, and from there our first board members were elected. In the Fall of 2020, Bridges Theatre Company announced its inaugural season, titled “In Our Own Voices”. Since then, Bridges has continued to serve the Point Park community, connecting with students across the university to create opportunities for emerging artists to share their work.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT + RESOURCES

Residing in the Greater Pittsburgh region, Bridges Theatre Company performs on Native land. The Pittsburgh Playhouse and Point Park University reside on the homelands of the Osage, Shawnee, Seneca, Lenape, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Wyandot, Mohican, Tisagechroami, and Haudenosaunee Nations while additionally recognizing the Hopewell, Delaware, and Monongahela cultures.  For over 200 years, these Native Nations have been forcibly removed from this territory, as the confluence of our Three-Rivers served as a common place for many Native peoples. Today, Pennsylvania still fails to recognize these nations. Bridges Theatre Company acknowledges the history of this Native land and necessary healing for its Native peoples.
